My France Trip: Dordogne

       Bonjour!

My dad drove our family to Dordogne which is named after the great Dordogne river that runs through it. Today, we went to a village that was burned by the Nazi during World War II. 647 people were massacred. We found the signature broken car in the middle of the village.

It was rusty and broken down. Next, a burned down house. They had a sign that says people lived there.
Next up, we saw a hotel the was similarly destroyed and burned down. There were fences to prevent people from going in and messing up the place. Irony.
My dad was telling us a bit about the history of the village. It was really sad. All those lives lost. Kudos to the organization who managed to preserve these ruins so that people could come visit and remember the history.

Next in Dordogne, we drove to Castelnaud. There was a really tiny entrance that lead us to the first room.
In the first room, there was a rope hanging form the middle of the ceiling. We had no idea what it was for... so we took a pic.
There were super creepy stairs that were very dimly lit. Do you want to find out where there lead?
This was a balcony (i think...) that had magnificent views of the surrounding land. I felt like a King!

In the middle of this room there was a model of an armoured knight riding an armoured horse, ready for battle!
A HUGE catapult that could fire all sorts of stuff!

According to descriptions, the castle had small windows so the king could not get sniped easily.
Castelnaud was really fun! I had a really good time  Stay tuned for part 2!
